A Little Walk

On Friday morning I woke up, turned to my right side to check the time and breathed a sigh of relief. It was 9am. I could get to my appointment on time, traffic permitting of course. After watching a couple of episodes of New Girl the previous night, I fell asleep and forgot to set an alarm for the morning. After a short battle with my contact lenses, I grabbed my bag and was ready to leave. The check-up was absolutely fine. They were already running late, so it didn’t matter that I was a few minutes late, well 15 to be exact.

I had given up all hope of seeing the eclipse. It was so cloudy outside and there was no way you could see anything through it. I didn’t have a pair of eclipse glasses anyway.

After finishing my errands, I remembered that I had my camera with me and decided to go for a walk instead of heading straight back home.

Sometimes I forget how beautiful London is. We’re always rushing from one place to another, sometimes I feel like I need to press pause on the busy schedule and take a moment to appreciate the wonders of the city I’m in.

I put on some quiet thought-provoking music, take out my camera and walk down the cobbled streets towards the river. I found myself thinking about the past couple of weeks, months, even years. I realised that certain situations kept cropping up. They were pretty difficult to relive. Then I remembered some pretty amazing things that happened too, which made it all worthwhile.

Product Empties #1

Here are all the products I have used up in 2014, well actually probably even from 2013 as well.

I’ve never tried a hair mask before and after watching a couple of YouTubers mention the Charles Worthington Moisture Seal Mineral Hair Rescue Masque,  I thought I’d give it a try. I use it once a week and it really does make a difference in retaining the moisture in my dry hair. I’ve already bought myself another one.

This Cuticura Cucumber & Garden Mint Anti Bacterial Hand Gel doesn’t have that really strong alcohol hand gel smell, but of fresh cucumber instead. I usually transfer it into smaller travel size bottles so it’s easy to carry around.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner is my absolute favourite toner. It is brilliant at removing excess oils and clearing my skin, although I would have to say, never get it in your eyes. It stings…a lot.

The Body Shop Fuzzy Peach Bath & Shower Gel smells great!

Over the winter season the Boots Cold Defence Nasal Spray was very handy at keeping colds at bay.

I’ve gone through a ridiculous amount of blister plasters this year. Wearing a lot of flat shoes to work does take its toll. The Compeed plasters stay on for a couple of days, whereas I tend to only keep the Boots plaster on for a day as they loosen much quicker and they’re not waterproof.

Starting a New School

Starting a new school was always going to be a daunting experience to overcome in a very short space of time, but after completing my first term, I can safely say that I had absolutely nothing to worry about.

When it comes to important decisions, I am the kind of person that will sit on the fence and rock back and forth without making a concrete decision. One day I would say yes and the next day I would probably say no. So if I get given a long time to decide on something, I would probably think about it and somehow train myself to say the complete opposite of how I first felt about it.

When I found out that I got a place at my current school, I was over the moon at first but once it had sunk in, I thought about what I was leaving behind. I continued to second guess my decisions. Was I being realistic about what I wanted to achieve at this new place? Was it really worth leaving academic education and moving into a more vocational environment instead?

It definitely hasn’t been easy but I am so thankful that I have been given the opportunity to be at a leading institution studying a subject I am passionate about.

The new term starts in a few days which basically means that my work increases dramatically compared to the introductory first term. Somehow, I need to find the motivation to do all the work straight away and organise my time more effectively and not continue with my horrible habit of working to the early hours of the morning, and barely staying awake during the day and then complaining about my lack of sleep even though it was entirely my fault.

I still have absolutely no idea about what I want to do after these two years of studying music. Lets see what the future holds!
