My Travel Makeup Essentials

When it comes to travelling, I’m that person that would usually pay to have a checked baggage on a quick city break. Most would say that I overpack, I would rather say that it’s me wanting to be prepared for every eventuality.

I thought I would give you a quick run down of what makeup I like to take with me when I go away. I try and take miniatures of products if I already have them, however I would not go out specifically to buy them for travel because they are incredibly expensive for the amount of product you actually get. I also try to avoid taking anything too heavy like products in glass bottles, or large palettes, where I know I won’t be using all the colours throughout my stay.

Whilst I travel, I like my makeup to be very light with a little bit of coverage. In terms of base, I like to use the Chanel Les Beiges Eau De Teint. It gives the most wonderful glow to the skin and is incredibly lightweight. It is quite a sheer formula due to the fact that it’s 75% water. This foundation is the only thing I have been wearing all summer, I have actually almost run out of it, and surprise surprise, it is sold out everywhere! I also bring my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk for when I want a bit more coverage.

My favourite lip combo at the moment is the YSL Volupte Liquid Colour Balm in shade 12 and the YSL Lip Styler in 70 – Le Nu. It gives a perfect ‘your lips but better’ look, which is perfect for me because I am terrible at reapplying my lip products.I like to travel with multi-use palettes because it saves so much space in your makeup bag and often gives you a choice of colours to use.

Everything I take with me fits neatly into a Space NK travel bag. I also make sure that when I’m packing, I stuff my makeup in between clothes in my suitcase, so that none of the powders crumble in transit.
